Lorain Housing Demolition

LORAIN, Ohio - Fourteen houses were approved for demolition Tuesday by the Lorain Board of Control.

The blighted houses will be demolished within the next month by Burton-based Cherokee Demolition for $155,222, according to Mayor Chase Ritenauer. The federal taxpayer money is from the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development’s Neighborhood Stabilization Program.

Ritenauer said he’d like to see up to 200 blighted homes razed this year if the money can be found.

The 14 homes are:

  • 601 Colorado Ave., demolition cost of $10,938.
  • 4107 Columbo St., demolition cost of $6,969.
  • 2532 G St., demolition cost of $6,619.
  • 2525 Reid Ave., demolition cost of $16,313.
  • 2236 E. 28th St., demolition cost of $9,438.
  • 1916 E. 30th St., demolition cost of $8,088.
  • 2311 E. 31st St., demolition cost of $5,806.
  • 1038 W. Fifth St., demolition cost of $8,569.
  • 1017 W. Eighth St., demolition cost of $8,013.
  • 400 W. 10th St., demolition cost of $16,000.
  • 1025 W. 18th St., demolition cost of $9,000.
  • 1022 W. 20th St., demolition cost of $25,556.
  • 1526 W. 20th St., demolition cost of $14,163.
  • 2945 Toledo Ave., demolition cost of $7,750.
